AS WE FIGHT Parts Ways With Singer, Vows To Continue As Five-Piece
February 24, 2010Vocalist Jesper Vicencio Gün has left the Danish metalcore act AS WE FIGHT. He says in a statement, "For the past couple of months I've felt the urge to try new stuff out. So therefore I have begun to study to become a multimedia designer. Also my heart, so to speak, has not been with this band's music, hence my decision to leave the band.
"AS WE FIGHT have given me two years worth of memories that I shall never forget as long as I live. I've gotten to do stuff that some people never get to do. Great shows, great dudes, great fucking metal."
Added the remaining members of AS WE FIGHT: "You might ask yourself; are the boys in AS WE FIGHT working hard or are they hardly working? And it's a fair question.
"With Jesper handing in his resignation in early September last year, one might think that this must be the end of it. But what seemed as lethal dose turned out to be pure EPO. We played a handful for killer shows as a quintet and it felt great and gave us the confidence to continue as a five-piece.
"So right now we're working hard on new rocking material with the tentative project title 'Rockcore'. Hopefully we'll be ready for a late spring release, but we won't just dash some mediocre metal off. We're going to take the time needed for this material to be just the way we want it."
In other news, AS WE FIGHT will support UNDEROATH at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 21.
"Meet Your Maker", the third album from AS WE FIGHT, was released in May 2009 through Dockyard 1 Records. The CD was produced and mixed by Jacob Bredahl (HATESPHERE, KOLDBORN) and mastered by Ziggy (ILLDISPOSED, RAUNCHY, MERCENARY).
